Phone hacking: lawyers seek access to Murdoch and Brooks email accounts

Lawyers have requested access to email accounts used by Rebekah Brooks and James Murdoch.

Lawyers have asked a court to grant access to email accounts used by James Murdoch and Rebekah Brooks in a bid to prove there was an attempt to cover up phone hacking at the News of the World and the Sun. A judge will decide whether the company email accounts used by executives and journalists can be searched for any discussion about the destruction or concealment of emails. The latest development in a civil action against the owners of the Sun and News of the World comes at a sensitive time for Murdoch, who is trying to oversee a bid by the company he runs, 21st Century Fox, to take full control of UK broadcaster Sky. A previous bid by Fox was abandoned amid public outcry over phone hacking.

I believe the both Murdoch and Brooks are doing something suspicious because it seems they are and have been for years in the authorities lime light. In the article it says the company was investigated back in 2010 and 2011 where they had deleted emails when police launched a criminal investigation. So there could be more to this story and the judge should allow lawyers to search the email accounts as it is likely they were doing something illegal. This also reflects badly on Rupert Murdoch as his son and business associate is being investigated by police.
