Twitter loses and revenue despite gaining 2 million users and Trump 'boost'

Shares in Twitter have slumped after the social networking site faced a decline in advertising income despite the rise in user numbers because of Donald Trump's high profile tweeting helped to advertise the platform's influence.The San Francisco based company reported annual revenues up 14% on last year to $2.5bn with monthly active users climbing from 317 million to 319 million in the final quarter last year.
I believe Twitter is a social networking site that isn't viewed as very modern even though its located on the internet and has millions of young users. This is because of the subjects that are constantly associated with the site which is mainly politics with the prime example of the current President who is in use of the website. In contrast with another social media website like Instagram, we rarely hear of significant figures communicating through this social media and this is probably because of the age range of users. Overall, Twitter's decline is occurring because of the younger generation becoming less interested in it.
